Over the last few years we have seen a strong shift in brick paving and hardscape design trends. In the past, curves and radiuses were often the focal point and highlight of patios and walkways. The construction process was fairly simple because small brick pavers had rounded edges allowing configurations to match the design work. The demand for circular brick has fallen so greatly that brick manufacturers have continued those classic products.
Today, the popular design trend is a sleek, modern look. Brick paved areas are larger and radiuses are becoming obsolete. Bricks that are square, rectangular and large in size are used to accommodate these horizontal surfaces. With the demand for larger sized pavers, design experts have been using more formal layouts. Patios and walkways are square or rectangular with straight lines creating a clean and modern vibe. Pools, pavilions, and other vertical structures are almost rectangular or in a geometric shape. There is a vast variety of colors creating a modern look. Embossed or textured pavers are used for a rustic look for those that want a more natural or traditional feel.
